Gbajabiamila to visit Katsina on Monday, to teach at Kofar Sauri Sec School ...to meet IDPs, others

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila will on Monday, September 16, 2019, visit Katsina State as part of his resolve to go to some States and assess the situation on the ground.

During the visit, the Speaker is expected to visit the Government Pilot Senior Secondary School, Kofar Sauri, where he will teach a class.

This is part of the Speaker's Voluntary Teaching Exercise, which he started in his Surulere 1 Federal Constituency of Lagos State in 2017 when he was House Leader.

Muslims in Southern Kaduna commemorates Islamic new year with special prayers

Hundreds followers of the Tijjaniyyah order in Islam under the auspices of Ansaru Faidhatu Tijjaniyya gathered at Jema'a Central Mosque in Kafanchan to observe the Annual Zikr and prayers to commemorate Islamic New Year, 1441 AH.

Dignitaries from within and outside the Jama'a Emirate in Southern Kaduna circled at the Da'ira to recite zikrs, after which religious teachers preached and offered prayers for the peace in the country.

Ganduje launches free, compulsory education

For an effective and efficient take-off of the free and compulsory basic and secondary education in Kano state, governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has flagged-off the funding component of the programme with the disbursement of N200 Million Naira, as monthly intervention from the state, which costs N2.4 Billion annually.

The flag-off was held at Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, Thursday, amid cheers and show of support to the programme by teachers, students, parents, stakeholders and other community people.

The Court of appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed the petition of the PDP in Taraba State seeking to stop the APC gubernatorial candidate Professor Mohammed Sani Yahaya from challenging the result of the 2019 governorship Election.

Ganduje to increase education funding to tackle out-of- school children challenge

Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on Thursday said that the state government would increase the funding of education to tackle increasing number of out-of-school children.

Ganduje said during the official flag-off of free and compulsory basic and secondary education in Kano, that the government would fund free and compulsory basic education with vigour.

He said that there are over eight million out-of-school children in Nigeria with one million of them from Kano State alone.
