CONTISS:Nuhu Bamalli Poly looses 100 Staff

Due to the non implementation of Consolidated Salary Structure of academic staff in Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria,Kaduna state no fewer than 100 staff have left the institution in search of greener pasture.
Engineer Aliyu Musa Kofa, chairman Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic,Zaria chapter disclosed this to newsmen in an interview in Zaria.
He said presently academic staff I'm the polytechnic enjoys only 80 percent of the agreed national benchmark of the structure despite a Memorandum of understanding signed with the Kaduna state government on the CONTISS implementation.
Engineer Kofa said the failure of Kaduna state governments to implement the balance of the most anticipated 20 percent resulted to cross carpeting of lecturers to other tertiary institutions across the country.
The chairman also lamented the non implementation of 65 years retirement age for all teaching staff, a situation he said causes serious brain drail.
"From 2016 to date, about 100 academic and non academic staff had left the polytechnic to other tertiary institutions.
"And sadly enough most of the staff drailing were senior lecturers which are very difficult to replace. "
"Just this year more than six senior lecturers crossed over to another institution within the state and many others are presently indicating interest to move on.
"It is disheartening to note that some of the departments in the school lacked Senior lecturers which are prerequisite to accreditation of courses by the NBTE."
Engineer Kofa pointed out that the situation has grossly affected academic progress of the school where most of the students graduated without quality education.
He said the in the absence of senior lecturers in a department, the school can be academical setback when accreditation team visit the institute.
The ASUP chairman however applauded the effort of Kaduna state Governor Nasir Elrufai for being the first Governor to implement the new minimum wage among workers in the state, urging him to promptly look into the CONTISS issue of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic,zaria with a view of resolving it once and for all.
