Kaura LG Election: PDP Chairmanship Aspirant insists Court fast track judgement

Hon. Simon Mathias, candidate vying for the Chairmanship position in Kaura Local Government area of Kaduna State under the platform of the People's Democracy Party (PDP) has urged the Kafanchan High Court to fast track judgement and allow for the conduct of election for Chairmanship position at the Local Government.

It would be recalled that Hon. Simon Mathias had approached the High Court seating in Kafanchan sometimes in May, 2019 demanding the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) to conduct election for the Chairmanship position in Kaura Local Government.

Counsel to the Plaintiff, Barr. Mon Simon asked the Court to grant it's application filed May 24, 2019 that prayed the court to exercise it's legal duties to within 90 days conduct the local government Election in Kaura local government in accordance with Section 719 of Nigeria Constitution.

Barr. Simon noted that the applicant had waited for over a year with no signs of elections to be held and therefore urged the court to grant a sole relief to foster the application for election to be conducted within the said 90 days.

Barr. Mathias D Joseph, Council for the respondent pleaded with the Plaintiff to exercise patience as plans were underway for the conduct of election in Kaura local government.

Barr. Joseph however, noted that the matter was not that of continuous statue bar as the applicant had not in the first place contested and won election as such there was nothing he was being deprived of.

The Presiding Judge, Luka Abba however, adjourned the case till 14th of Oct. for continuation of hearing on the matter.
