NEMA donates relief materials to Southern Kaduna IDPs

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has donated items to Zangan/Kirim communities in Takad Chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following attacks in the recent past which left scores dead and properties destroyed.

While presenting the items at the Central Primary School, Fadan Attakar, the Northwest coordinator of NEMA, Ishaya Isa Chonoko, noted that the items were meant to cushion the hardship experienced by the people.

Governor Elrufa'i frowns at the attitude of stereotyping ethnic groups

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufa'i has urged people of the state to desist from stereotyping any ethnic group in the event of any breach of the peace by an individual.

Governor El-Rufa'i who spoke through the State Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan during a commissioning ceremony of Forward Operation Base in Gwantu, Sanga Local Government Area on Tuesday said branding an ethnic group as trouble makers was inimical to the corporate existence of the country.

NAWOJ trains 760 journalists on gender issues

National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) trained 760 journalists on gender issues in three years, the National President, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole, said on Tuesday.

Omowole made this known at the opening of a one-day training for a batch of 260 journalists in Abuja, on the occasion of “NAWOJ at 30: Still Standing.”

She said that the training was for both male and female journalists across the nation.

Policeman who supplies drugs to Boko Haram nabbed

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Yobe, said it had arrested a policeman and a drug trafficker (names with held) for allegedly conniving and supplying 59kg of prohibited Tramadol tablets to Boko Haram insurgents in Gwoza, Borno.

Mr Reuben Apeh, the NDLEA state Commander, while addressing newsmen in Damaturu, said that the suspects were arrested on Nov. 7.

Apeh said the drug trafficker had confessed buying the prohibited substance from an unnamed customs officer in Lagos.

Imo election: Ihedioha waits on Appeal Court

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday reserved judgment in three separate appeals challenging the victory of Emeka Ihedioha in the March 9 governorship election in Imo State.

The five member panel presided over by Justice Oyebisi Omoleye, announced that judgment in the three appeals would be delivered on a date to be communicated to parties, after parties in the various appeals adopted their written addresses as brief of argument in the appeals.

CAC set to de-list companies over annual returns

Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on Monday urged companies operating in the country to file in their annual returns as provided by the law or risk being de-listed from its register.

Mr Moses Adaguusu, Head Public Affairs, CAC, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the call became necessary in view of the need to keep the commission abreast of such companies that were still in operation or otherwise.
