Police arrest 5 over scavengers, area boys clash in Lagos

Lagos State Police Command has arrested five suspects involved in a clash between area boys and scavengers at.

The Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Bala Elkana, said in a statement on Sunday, that the clash was triggered by a misunderstanding when a scavenger reportedly pushed an area boy, who had goods on his head, by mistake.

Elkanah said: “On Aug. 18, at 10.00 a.m., one Alh. Adekunle Habib, of Ilepo market, reported at Oke Ode Police Station that there was a misunderstanding between a Hausa scavenger and an area boy from the Yoruba ethnic group.

Katsina: 3 NYSC members die in crash – Official

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Katsina State, has confirmed the death of three corps members in a ghastly motor accident in Kankara Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the corps Public Relations Officer, Mr Alex Obemeata, on Sunday in Katsina.

“Sunday Aug. 18, 2019, is a sad day for the NYSC in Katsina State as three Corps Members lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident on their way to a Church programme in Funtua.

Senate President Lawan condemns attack on Ekweremadu

The President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, has condemned Saturday’s assault on former Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, in Nuremberg, Germany, and called for its investigation.

Lawan, in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by his media aide, Mr Ola Awoniyi, described Ekweremadu as an illustrious son of the Igbo ethnic nation who had always identified with its cause.
